About Us

The Institute for the Built Environment is based at Colorado State University. We form and manage interdisciplinary teams of faculty, students, and off-campus professionals to take research to practice.

IBE was established in the College of Health & Human Sciences in 1994. As an enterprise center at CSU, we are a unique bridge between the university and industry. We specialize in helping communities and organizations create healthy, thriving places through services that simplify and amplify sustainability solutions.

We have over twenty-five years of experience providing an unbiased approach to all our projects and connecting partners to cutting-edge research at CSU.

IBE is an educational non-profit and we are driven by the land-grant mission of CSU to support our Colorado communities.

In every project we serve, CSU students are engaged in meaningful internship experiences that help launch their careers in green building, corporate sustainability, community development and beyond.

Our mission is to advance the development of healthy, thriving built environments.
