Facilitation of working groups and committees informs county-wide plan
The Client: Larimer County
The Challenge: From 2023-2024, Larimer County undertook an ambitious effort to co-create and co-deliver a county-wide climate and resiliency plan as part of its Climate Smart and Future Ready (CSFR) program. The County couldn’t orchestrate the direct engagement of scores of community leaders, technical experts, and decision makers on its own.
Our Approach: In partnership with Lotus Engineering and Sustainability, IBE led community engagement and facilitation efforts to inform and launch the (CSFR) Implementation Plan. Over the 18-month project timeline, IBE facilitated eight meetings each for the executive committee, a public engagement and outreach committee, and a series of working groups across four sustainability topic areas. Working group members included representatives from local municipalities and county government agencies, education and academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and businesses. Additionally, IBE led the development of a series of educational videos designed to communicate the goals and process of the CSFR initiative and to inspire action from stakeholders across the County.
The Outcomes: Through the far-reaching community and stakeholder engagement efforts, the plan was successfully co-designed and will continue to guide the County through 2029.
